Beloved children's author Laura Ingalls Wilder who brought her story of Little House on the Prairie to millions through her books and was the inspiration for the television show of the same name starring Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert was born in what became known as the Little House in the Big Woods.
A replica of that small cabin now sits on land once owned by 'Pa' Ingalls just outside of the Village of Pepin. The Little House Wayside is open year 'round and is free to visit making it a must-see for the whole family.
